Treatment for Prostate

For benign prostate hyperplasia (benign enlargement of the prostate) and bladder stones your doctor will be best able to advise you on the treatment options available to you. However the two main methods of treatment are medication or surgery.

The drugs available aim to reduce the size of the prostate gland or relax the muscle fibres in the gland in order to reduce pressure on the urethra.

There are many different types of surgery some more invasive than others. Whilst sometimes necessary certain types of surgery may carry more risk than medication but the benefits may be longer lasting. It is up to you and your doctor to decide what is the best option for you.
