Overactive bladder Surgery
Overactive bladder treatment
Surgery is generally only recommended where bladder overactivity or OAB is a result of some underlying problem such as tumour, stone or obstruction to the outlet of the bladder.
Surgery may also be used if the drugs are unhelpful or not well tolerated (difficult to stay on due to side effects).
Stress incontinence treatment
Where pelvic floor exercises do not work or if there is prolapse in addition to stress incontinence, surgery can successfully cure or improve the problem.
Operations include a series of simple injections into the water passage to prevent leakage or a bladder repair which aims to restore the bladder to its normal position thereby curing stress incontinence and any associated prolapse.
